Care and Repair

Clean

I believe we should make our clothes last longer, especially when it comes to children's clothing. The way we take care of our clothes when we wash, dry and/or iron, if done right, can prolong their useful life.

Here are some tips on taking care of clothes on a daily basis:

WASH LESS

Air dry as much as possible. Remove minor stains with liquid soap. Before washing, put a little liquid detergent on the stains. Wash only when necessary, with a maximum temperature of 30ºC, use liquid detergent instead of powder to avoid stains.

AIR DRY

Do not dry clean, air dry. Hang clothes outside or on a hanger if possible.

CARING IS REPAIRING

Cover stains or holes with small pieces of fabric.

Repair

In my family, clothes were passed from generation to generation. I received clothes that had already been worn by brothers and sisters, cousins or friends…

Children's clothes were made to last. Each seam resisted our games without tearing… and when it did, our mothers and grandmothers mended, with love. My family wasn't special (well, for me it is), that's how it was done.

Over the years, this habit has been lost, largely due to the growth of the Fast Fashion industry and its too low prices. Our clothes have lost quality and are easily discarded, with disastrous consequences for the environment.

Fortunately, brands have emerged that are committed to producing quality clothes, sustainably, that withstand more than one or two wash cycles.

It is also our responsibility, as clothing brands, to encourage and teach how to take care of our clothing so that it lasts longer.

COLORFUL PATCHES

We created the repair kit to patch small holes or cover visible stains on our children's clothes. This technique is easy to apply to any piece of clothing, just use a small piece of fabric, thread and needle.

VISIBLE PATCHING

This technique consists of mending by applying stitches by hand intentionally. Here the imperfect aspect is valued, adding character to the piece. There are many ideas on this internet outside. On our Pinterest, we created an album with some of our favorites.

EMBROIDERY

Another original way of mending is embroidery. If you prefer more abstract themes, why not try the Japanese art of embroidery, Sashiko.

UPCYCLING

Sometimes repairing is out of the question. In this case, we can transform it into a new piece, using the Upcycling or creative reuse technique. It's a great way to make original clothes that are more eco-friendly, such as a t-shirt with an unusual design or simply transforming pants into shorts.

Our mission is to create clothing that resists children's daily lives, that can be inherited and carry memories through generations. I believe that if clothing tells a story, it will be harder to throw it away.
